Packing list for a weekend away
A weekend away fits in one small bag. Start from a list, count the clothes for the days you are away and add only what this trip needs.
Count the days first
A trip of two nights is three days. That number decides how many tops, pairs of underwear and pairs of socks you need, so work it out before you pack anything. Our packing list generator takes the number of days and counts the clothes for you.
Start from the Essentials
The Essentials list covers what almost every trip needs, from clothes and toiletries to your phone, charger, wallet and keys. It is the same list the PackPerfect app starts a trip with. Read it through once and cross out whatever your weekend does not need.
Add the kind of trip
Then add what is specific to this trip. A weekend by the sea needs different things from a weekend in the mountains. The packing lists have an add-on for each kind of trip, and the generator merges them with the Essentials so nothing appears twice.
Wear the heavy things
Shoes, a jacket or a jumper take space and weight in a bag. If they can travel on you, they are not in the bag. The Essentials mark which items you can wear.
Pack in this order
- Put the list next to the bag.
- Pack one group at a time, such as clothes, then toiletries, then electronics.
- Tick each item as it goes in.
- Check the Must-have items last, so they are on top and easy to find.
